To be aware of the work God has given to our hands to complete also brings an awareness of our inadequacies to perform. We can not do what God has given us to do outside of His grace, anointing, and provision. Please don’t ignore or gloss-over this reality and practicality involved in building a work.
Even Jesus said:
“For which one of you, when he wants to build a tower, does not first sit down and calculate the cost, to see if he has enough to complete it? Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation and is not able to finish, all who are watching it will begin to ridicule him, saying, ‘This person began to build, and was not able to finish!’ “ (Luke 14:28-30)
–
So we carefully count up every imaginable cost while we prayerfully abide in the Vine – God, our Father – to establish every step and provide every need. These costs include finances, resources, people, knowledge, emotional stability, spiritual maturity, and more.
Although we diligently count-up the costs and put our hands and attention to the work, we must never forget that “unless the Lord build the house, our labor will be in vain.” (Psalms 127:1).
Yet we must labor and continue laboring in partnership with our sovereign Lord.
While we “labor” – that is, while we plan, count costs, gather resources, make decisions, lay foundations, and begin to build – I PRAY FOR INCREASE.
Lord, bless us indeed. Enlarge our territory.
Amen
