This message is a prophetic call to purity, warning those who carry spiritual gifts—especially the prophetic gift—not to compromise the word of the Lord for money, pressure, platforms, or people’s expectations. Using the account of Balaam and Balak in Numbers chapters 22–24, it reminds believers that God’s word cannot be bought or manipulated, and that His servants must speak only what He has spoken.
This recording includes prophetic singing, teaching, and intercessory prayer for ministry leaders.
Only Speak What the Lord Has Spoken
On this day, I come before the Lord in a posture of intercession, with reverence for His presence and with holy sobriety concerning the gifts He has entrusted to His people. For those who walk in spiritual gifts—especially the prophetic gift—there is a weighty responsibility before God: to see only what He reveals, to say only what He speaks, and to release only what has come from His throne.
We are living in a time when compromise presses upon the people of God. Yet compromise is not new. From early biblical times, there have been attempts to bend, purchase, manipulate, or redirect the word of the Lord. But the word of the Lord is holy. It cannot be bought. It cannot be sold. It cannot be shaped to please men. It must be spoken in purity, in obedience, and in the fear of the Lord.
The Warning of Balaam and Balak
I am reminded of the account of Balaam and Balak in Numbers 22–24. Balak, king of Moab, was afraid of Israel. He saw the people of God encamped near him, and fear rose within his heart. So he sent messengers to Balaam, offering him payment to come and curse the children of Israel. Balak wanted a prophetic voice to speak against those whom God had blessed.
But Balaam knew the Lord had spoken. The Lord had already said that Israel was blessed. And still, pressure came. More messengers came. Greater honor was offered. Silver and gold were placed before him as temptation. Yet Balaam declared that even if Balak gave him his house full of silver and gold, he could not go beyond the command of the Lord.
As Balaam journeyed, the angel of the Lord stood in the way. Balaam could not see the angel, but the donkey could. The donkey turned aside, pressed against the wall, and finally lay down because there was no way forward. Balaam became angry, but the Lord opened the donkey’s mouth. Then the Lord opened Balaam’s eyes, and he saw that the angel of the Lord had been standing in the path to resist him.
This is a holy warning: sometimes God will block the path when a gifted vessel is moving toward compromise. Sometimes mercy will stand in the road with a drawn sword. Sometimes the Lord will use what seems lowly, inconvenient, or unexpected to keep His servant from misusing the gift.
The Prophetic Word Is Not to Be Sold
When Balaam finally stood before Balak, the king still desired a curse. He took Balaam from place to place, from mountain to mountain, hoping the word would change. Sacrifices were offered. Altars were built. But God’s mind was not for sale. God had blessed Israel, and no man could reverse what God had spoken.
Each time Balak expected a curse, Balaam released a blessing. He said, “How can I curse whom God has not cursed?” He declared that he must speak only what the Lord put in his mouth. And when the Spirit of God came upon him, he blessed Israel again, saying, “Blessed is everyone who blesses you, and cursed is everyone who curses you.”
Balak was angry because Balaam would not give him the word he wanted. He said, in essence, “I called you to curse my enemies, but you have blessed them again and again.” Yet Balaam answered with conviction: “What the Lord speaks, that I will speak.”
A Call to Prophetic Purity
Men and women of God, this must be our conviction in this hour. We cannot compromise the gift. We cannot use prophecy to satisfy pressure, raise offerings, please leadership, stir emotion, or create a moment. If the Lord has a word for His people, He has that word whether they give or do not give. The prophetic gift is not merchandise. The word of the Lord is not a transaction.
If God has not spoken, do not speak as though He has. If God has spoken but has not released you to speak, wait. If He gives correction, speak correction with His heart. If He gives warning, speak warning with His burden. If He gives blessing, do not turn it into a curse. If He gives silence, do not manufacture sound.
The people of God must not be trained to depend on words that heaven has not released. Lives are shaped by what is spoken in the name of the Lord. Therefore, let the word of the Lord be true in our mouths. Let it be clean. Let it be weighty. Let it be delivered with integrity, humility, and holy fear.
Only say what God has said. Only speak when He releases you. Only release what He has placed in your mouth. Let no payment, platform, pressure, title, expectation, or atmosphere move you beyond the command of the Lord.
A Prayer of Repentance and Consecration
Father, in the name of Jesus, we thank You for this word of admonition. We thank You for calling Your sons and daughters back to purity, back to reverence, back to obedience, and back to the fear of the Lord.
